Hope into Action
CTiE made the decision in Feb 2018 to explore a possible
partnership with the national charity Hope into
Action to provide housing and support for
homeless and vulnerably housed people in Epsom, and this work continues
to progress in a positive way.
Currently £300,000 has been pledged by local investors
towards the purchase of a house, and local churches have been generous
in offering contributions towards the initial cost of a franchise
arrangement with Hope into Action. Work is being done to register ‘Hope
into Action: Epsom’ as a charity, to develop contacts with local
referrers (such as HMP Downview), to visit other similar housing
projects, and to learn more about the franchise arrangements with HiA
and how the partnerships with local churches in the running of
this/these projects will operate. The (prospective) trustees will hope
to attend an assessment day with Hope into Action in April, and further
training in June if all continues to proceed.
There is more work to be done, but it is exciting to
think that the Churches Together in Epsom might be able to play a role
in supporting individuals in very difficult circumstances towards a
brighter and more stable future.
